Having a spot of trouble. Am wondering if you experts here would be kind enough to offer me some guidance?

Something is wrong with your high side gauge.
Are you sure it is hooked up correctly and the service port is opened?
What's the year, make, model and engine size?
How much refrigerant have to installed?
Is your high side port before or after the condenser?
Locate the liquid line and feel the temp with the system running Hot?, warm?, room temp?

No, I don't think you mixed them up. there is just a problem in the system or the gauges.

Push down on suspect Acme connection of gauge if erratic.
What's the complaint that you are even checking? I actually suggest leaving it alone if credible the more you mess with ports you lose a touch of refrigerant or cause a leak there you didn't have,

That's it. The pressures are not credible. 50/50psi. If the gauges are correct there is a real problem. Let him answer the questions I asked and we will know better.

So far all I checked was:
Low side line is cold. High side is hot.
Lines are hooked up correctly.

I didn't ask about either of those lines. I asked specifically about the liquid line which is the line going from the condenser to expansion valve.
You still haven't even told us what this vehicle is.

I'm sorry Hammer Time.
2003 Grand Caravan 3.3L
Both schrader valves leaked. Replaced and pulled vacuum again.
Let sit 2 hours and seemed to no be leaking. Guess I was wrong.
Initially put in 1.5 pounds, exactly. (using scale)
Got system down to about 38-40 degrees.
About a week later, started to get less cold. Haven't been able to get it right since.
Used bubbles, compressed air and dye. Never found leak.
I'll get other info later.

If you had a compressor failure, why wasn't the condenser replaced also?
Do you know why the compressor failed in the first place?

Here's some text I wrote up this morning. Maybe there's a tid-bit or two you can decipher from it.

Replaced Expansion Valve, Dryer and Compressor. Pulled vacuum and Schrader valves was leaking. Both of them. Replaced both sides and pulled vac again. Did not seem like there were any more leaks. So filled (using scale) with exact amount of Freon Manufacture called for. (2003 Grand Caravan SE 3.3L)
Temp was good. Got here down to around 35-40 degrees.
All was well for about a week and I noticed at idle she did not cool as well as she did before. Chalked it up to a super hot day. A week later cooling had diminished more.
So I determined that I still had a leek somewhere. Tried Bubbles, compressed air and dye. Could not find any additional leaks.
Had to use the van yesterday to go about 200 miles round trip. Myself, wife, handicapped son and 5 dogs. So I put some more freon in to make the trip. At first I got her down to about 50 degrees.
When I went to take the High Side gauge connector off it got jammed somehow and a bunch of freon got out before I got it off.
It no longer got very cold AGAIN. For some reason when I went to put more Freon in, my site gauge showed a Sh!t load of foamy looking Freon flowing.
It cleared up after about 20 seconds and looked normal. But my wife was ready to leave and it was at least getting a bit cool. Like 55-60 degrees.
I was afraid to add more Freon at that point because of the foamy look I had seen. I did not know If I had gotten air in the system or just what caused that foamy Freon.
Maybe I should just start from scratch with another 1.5 lbs of Freon. Problem is I don't know enough about it to know if the oil would come out with the Freon. I was trying to avoid pulling the A/C, dumping whatever oil is in it and putting new oil in it.
I have health issues and little funds after bills are paid. It was hard enough to do the first time.

Did not have money for condenser. No... I just figured it's MTBF was up. Worn out, as it were. It happened on a long trip to Oklahoma for a funeral.

You're likely in for some serious problems now. When a compressor fail it sends all the shrapnel from the compressor gets blown into the condenser. This makes the condenser lose it's efficiency which make the pressures too high and causes the new compressor to fail again and make a bigger mess.
You can't simply add refrigerant to it either. It needs a specific amount and too little or too much will cause problems.
At this point the smartest thing you can do is replace the condenser and dryer again and recharge it with the proper amount of refrigerant.
This is what I was suspecting with the pressure reading you had. It's acting like it has a total blockage.

BiggyJ - Put some better gauges on the list of things to cost more than this is ending up to be AGAIN. Those busted the fittings or vs verse? Take a look at them if damaged. Dang things were to be universal are not so great nor are new hose/gauges ends. Perhaps just new hoses?
Condenser is like a filter - you can't clean it out of debris.
Stinks and doesn't care if you wreck the next one either.
If you can just live thru this weekend then see what you can find that's affordable for you, failures just make it all worse as you know already,

That usually indicates a problem with the drier. To confirm, feel the liquid line that goes from the dryer to the expansion valve. If cool/cold, you need to replace the drier. Those pressures are typical of the probem.
