Cost vs Quality - Freon

I recharge my systems with the least expensive R134a. Is there a difference in quality between the $6.88 stuff and the $12.00 stuff? Also, have you heard of HC12a. Is it worth using? Both my 95 Plymouth Gr Voyager w/3.3 and my 97 GMC Sierra w/305 have small leaks that require a little more freon once in a awhile. Of course, it's over 100d here everyday, often to 115d without heat index. Thanks for the info! Praise for the inventor of AC!

Both vehicles were originally designed for 134a. I would keep them that way as at the moment different stuff may edge out a touch but then you'll find shops won't touch your cars.
The volume of refrigerant is known for your vehicles and if you make a change you will need some high end guessing. Avoid over charging a system as you can wreck it and other than real small and slow leaks should be fixed. Good luck with whatever you choose and tell us about it, T
