Drivers side blowing cold air passenger side blows hot Sign In

Both sides are set to 90°, drivers side blows cold air passenger side blows hot air. Is this a vacuum issue or a computer issue.

Earlier in the summer it was just the opposite. Suddenly started working again. Now that I need the heater it acts up again.
2015 Lincoln MKX.

Does this car have dual temp control?

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

You can access the left side actuator from under the dash on the driver's side.

Thank you! I will check this out. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be warm enough outside. Wink

Save that diagram by HT, great as usual. OP, it's a bit new for me just some thoughts on what is a fairly expensive car with it's features.
What comes to mind is a forgotten cabin air filter by this age! IDK all the funky things possible from a really trashed one do check.
General for anything going on NOW (things are slow as a snail) is where parked for complicated cars/trucks this is especially is don't allow falling foliage, pine needles in particular to get down cowl where wipers are! Type of falling needles vary greatly some go right thru screening and it's open book what troubles they'll cause - I was taken by you saying it was capable of quitting the problem was before this could have been some from a season before.

It's too new for pattern problems for most yet those two something to still check or not allow to happen if your scene now or known in its history.
Full dash dismantles are just not good for it at all a lot busts newer even harder. Wish the filters were made two second jobs some are a project and or knowing if it has one or was optional?
General again on climate controlled temps: They won't blow engine coolant temps will dilute that down or A/C up so it's not annoying with age becomes annoying how they do that!

Are you saying that I have to tear the whole dash apart to get to the filter? I have never changed or cleaned one before. I don't even know where they are.

No, you do not. You may have to remove the glove box for that but that has nothing to do with you current issue. Don't get confused with that.
