Assuming the AC compressor is running, does changing the AC fan speed (low to high or vice versa) have any effect on a car's gas mileage?

The more current the blower fan uses, the more current the alternator has to supply to the electrical system to keep up with the demand. It takes engine power to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy inside the alternator, so putting more demand on the alternator by adding electrical loads is going to affect fuel mileage to a degree. The affect on fuel mileage is probably minimal though. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
