I HAVE A '92 DODGE DAKOTA 4 X 2 3.9 V-6 THAT IS EXPERIENCING HEATER PROBLEMS.I LIVE IN CENTRAL IOWA WHERE THE TEMP WENT DOWN -0 LAST NIGHT AND TODAY THE HEATER WOULD BARELY HEAT UP. I SUSPECT A HEATER CORE PROBLEM. I HAVE LEARNED THAT "BACK- FLUSHING COULD RELIEVE THE PROBLEM. THE WATER DOES GET HOT IN THE RADIATOR AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TEMP STAT IS HAS.
I WANT TO KNOW IF USING A HIGH-PRESSURE CAR WASH HOSE TO BACK-FLUSH WILL DAMAGE ANY INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF THE CORE AND IF BACK-FLUSHING WILL IMPROVE THE CONDITION.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED. I REALLY SON'T WANT TO REPLACE THE CORE IF I CAN AVOID IT-KNOWING ALL THE REQUIRED STEPS IT TAKES TO REPLACE ONE.
THANX FOR ANY ADVICE.

I would say it certainly will. This system operates at 14 to 15PSI and you shouldn't exceed that by much. Using a straight garden hose is about the max.
This is a bypass type heater core in there so don't get your hopes up on getting much improvement doing this. What's inside gets hard and crusty.
