Heater Sign In

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid and the heater is not giving heat. It's not the thermostat. The blower works fine. I was told it's also not the heating coil? Mechanic said it was in the panel and to bring it to dealer. Can't afford to do this. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Winter is cold in New England.

Re: Heater Sign In

Hi neighbor,

You need a better diagnosis than just needing a new "heater core" as was suggested.

First the cooling system needs to be known full at the engine/radiator not just the recovery tank. Check on that.

Most of the time a plugged heater core is slow to just up and quit blowing any heat. It might be poor at first then slowly clog up. Many will flush out and be fine without replacement if just clogged and do the whole cooling system.

If coolant is found full then there are other things that can prevent heat but start with checking the coolant level,
