Impossible ac repair.

I have a 2001 Chevy suburban 2500 4x4 with a 6.0 vortec. I had no ac since I bought the truck. The shop told me to change the compressor, condenser, and accumulator. When I did the compressor would not switch on. So I checked the fuses and the main ac fuse needed replacing. Nothing. So I changed the relay and the compressor began to rapid cycle. So I replaced the pressure switch and the compressor began to run. I came across a few leaks and once the system was completely sealed I charged and tested it. Only getting cold in the rear ac. Front still blowing hot. So I replaced both blender door actuators and still no ac. I then replaced the orifice tube and the ac evaporator coil for the front. Nothing still. I’m losing my mind and am completely out of ideas. Does anyone have any idea what my issue is.

AC repair is not a DIY or trial and error type repair. You have to understand how refrigeration works to be able to diagnose the system. Having both front and rear system complicates the situation because the pressures will not expose the problem easily. Was there anything on the orifice tube when you removed it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The orifice tube had metal looking particulate in it as well as dark grey oil. Following the system flush and orifice tube replacement the line was completely clean with clear flush.

I think you should pull out the orifice tube again and examine it. It sounds like the system has a lot of contamination in it. If you still have no cooling after that, pinch off one of the heater hoses and see if that changes anything. It was a mistake to go right to replacing blend door motors without testing anything.

Ditto - "O" tube again for another new one you'll find same as first time I think. Really inspect what the debris is. Note if reman compressor IMO a crap shoot w little choice may or may not be redoing it for another crap shoot. 5 star for efforts here OP it's not always cooperative! T

I will go back to the o tube again. And the blend doors were removed and tested by bypassing the heater core. One of the actuators was replaced because it was having a hard time functioning. The other was reinstalled. For the o tube, it seems odd that it would only affect one half of the system.what reason could that be?

Rear is an expansion valve vs front can HOG the liquified but inadequate amount of compressed refrigerant for the front and do just this. For another time if all your hair is lost think if you really want the rear at all for these IMO complicates it too much when older if no passengers always in a 3rd seat area just back seat can be fine or survivable. Why - it's the same BTU of cooled air just splitting it up, T

Yup - with X for rear, O for front the X wins (a real thief) intended to cause HAIR loss as I said! Tom

Hey guys. I know I’m a little late on the update but I’ve been chasing down leaks and small things to get everything set. The expansion valve was the culprit. Once it was changed I started getting cool air coming into the front. Had to chase out some leaks but at this point The ac is working. Thank you all for your help.

If you have an orifice tube, then you don't have an expansion valve in the front. They both do the same job so which one do you have? You can't have both in the front.
