Not much heat????

I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3 V8 with 150000 miles. I recently noticed that the heat was not very good so i changed the thermostat but the engine temp was fine before and after i did that but still bad heat. The coolent level is fine. Where do i go from here???

You may have some Dexcool starting to plug up the heater core. If that's the case you will have to add some flush chemicals and thoroughly flush the cooling system including flushing the core with water pressure from a garden hose. You may have to do this a few times.

Yes Loren, it happens but there are reasons it happens, mostly customer neglect and air in the system but we won't get into that right now.

Just ask then for their best cooling system flush.

Im pretty sure the coolent is good in the truck i just had it changed around 30,000 miles ago... so do u think it would already be pluging up. I know what u mean with Dexcool how it plugs up i used to work at a VIOC but you could always see that in the resovore.

Feel both heater hoses where they go into the firewall. If they are both hot to the touch, the core is OK. If either one is not good and hot, the core is plugged.

the flush didnt work.. would it have anythimg to do with missing the cabinair filter???

The heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. it is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.
