Park Avenue heater issues Sign In

Have a 94 Park Avenue that I just replaced the alternator, rad and thermostat in. This car has an electronic heater in it with passenger climate controls also. it starts warming up blows hot air then the passenger side starts blowing cold. The temp numbers start flashing like it's trying to reset itself and then everything is cold air. tried disconnecting the battery cable to reset the computer but it still does the same thing. it has good heat and I've tried shutting it off, turning the temp down then back up but nothing seems to help. Any ideas would be great, I'm stumped, can hear the cables moving behind the unit but it keeps going onto cold setting or a/c it feels like.

I doubt it uses cables but rather "actuators" to control diverter doors and those can either strip gears or if using rods can break or fall off,

The electronic system has the ability to set DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) to identify issues.

from the service manual................

NOTE: When A DTC is set, the temperature flashes during the first 2 minutes of operation.

The only way to access Diagnostic Trouble Codes is with the use of a TECH 1 (or similar) scan tool. Follow manufactures directions.
