I was in the part store the other day that I go and know all of them that work there, and had a conversation on refrigerant. He was saying he had learned about the phasing out of R 134a and we talked about we both knew about R22 that's been coming for awhile and R12 forget it it's gone now but R134a time is coming. Does anyone out there know or has information of this or is it just rumors. Looking to get this set straight if it can. Thankyou;

No, that is completely untrue. Parts people are forever running their mouths about things they know nothing about. R134A is not going anywhere. They have started using a new refrigerant in production of SOME new vehicles called R1234yf but it is not replacing R134A and there is no plan to phase it out. There will be no retrofitting of R134A vehicles. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well that's good to know had a hard time believing it. Is that R134a that Walmart caries for $5.00 a can any good or recommended?

You have to be very careful buying from places like Wally World. Much of what they sell has all kinds of sealers and additives thrown in that you want no part of. There is also a lot of Chinese made refrigerant that is contaminated with all kinds of things.

That's what I was afraid of when I saw Made in China thought oh boy tempting but might pay for it out the nose later. Thankyou; Travis

Saw the 134a supposed to be pure stuff at Walmart exactly now down to $5 after spiking to $15 in season talking 12oz cans. I don't need any nor R-22. TMK these are made new still even R-12 it was only honored by cooperating countries not everywhere. What you get made where remains unknown to me I don't own some laboratory to prove purity. Ha - with many assorted products I've lost my confidence in brand loyalty you don't know who really made it or where, T
