Thermostat Housing Sign In

I'm putting my 91 Camaro RS with 305 TBI "E" engine back together, replacing most every part. I could use some help with the thermostat housing, in looking to replace it with a new OEM style housing I have discovered the OEM style housing has two threaded holes in it, the one that was on the engine before the rebuild does not, and looks a lot like the housing on the v-6. I figure the one hole is for the temp. sending unit which was in the intake manifold when I got the car. Can anyone tell me, is the housing with the two threaded holes correct? and if it is, what is the other hole for? or can I use the style housing that came on the engine and leave the temp. sensor in the manifold? (I'm looking to get the car back to more of a stock style)

I think what you are finding is that OE housing is now not as specific as the car was new. The extra threaded ports no doubt accommodate sensors that are used in other applications. If the one you want has just the plain two holes for the thermostat gasket you can get those aftermarket, in chrome or plain to paint or clear-coat as you wish,
