I purchased a used 1995 Surburban and can not get consistant heat from the front or rear heater. After counsulting my mechanic he suggested a system flush and the possablity of and air lock. I flushed the heater cores with a garden hose attached to the heater hose but have the same problem. With the vehicle running and the rad. cap removed I can unhook the return heater hose from the tee and only get a pencil lead thick flow of coolant to run out.My question is, is it plugged heater cores or a week waterpump or air in the lines? Thanks for your help!

Back again at wild guessing. Try a reverse flush and look as best you can for a lime type crust that you probably won't get out, Bummer but let's hope, T

I agree with Tom your heater core(s), lines and or control valves to or from are clogged or control valves are stuck in a position not allowing flow. It almost can’t be that the water pump is at fault. Supplying hot water to the passenger compartment for heating is the water pumps secondary job. Its main purpose is to cool the engine; heat for the passenger compartment is just a by product. To confirm this take the hoses that come directly off the engine and join them together. If they become as warm/hot as the other hoses then you have flow. Dan. Canadian "EH"
