2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 5.7 V-8 with 130,000 miles. I lost my A/C after trip down to St. Pete from Chicago. Worked fine whole trip down and then noticed it lost it's cooling power.Checked under hood with car running and a/c on and compressor clutch would engage for 2 seconds then disengage for 7-8 seconds. that's all that happened. No cold air through ducts at all. Fully charged with refrigerant. Checked and wiggled all wiring and relays, but no change. Did not check any fuses, figuring if one was blown the clutch would not engage at all. That sums up all I have done so far. It would just keep doing that. On for 2 sec. and off for 7-8 and on and off, etc.

That means that you have a leak in the system and it's now low on refrigerant. You will need to get the system leak checked to find out where the problem is.

Thanks, Hammer. Don't know where your from, but is there anyone in Pinellas Park or St. Pete area that you would recommend? I've been coming down here for thirty years, but only with my semi and have never used any shop here at all.

Honestly, I'm not familiar with anyone on the west coast. I'm in the Palm Beach area.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee,

Insanely known for evap leaks!

Not to scare you but put on the steel belted jockey shorts. Not an easy job - all labor and can be nasty!
