Can I install shocks on rear without using the Automatic Rear Air Leveling System? Thinking pull fuse for air compressor and use regular shocks. System hasn't worked for a long time....Thanks for any help

Is there a problem with the system other than the shocks themselves?

Highpines? What is it doing keeping the compressor going all the time? Assorted causes from it leaks at lines, struts themselves or malfunction with how it detects that it needs to be raised.
Ask if you want to do without if whole shocks/struts are available if you want to just dump that feature. Most don't last for crap IMO. What I don't know quickly is if those are the springs for the rear or just levels the vehicle - sorry lots of possible ways to do suspension with features or plain without that?
Other types where reasonable made manual or got rid of that if NOT the only thing holding the vehicle up,

The reason I asked the question is because if the rest of the system is good and the shocks are the only problem, you really aren't saving much money by eliminating the air system. The air shocks really aren't very expensive and it's much better and easier to keep the original system.

Thanx to all...Van sat for a few winters...yes, compressor runs most of time and haven't got under to look. system seems complicated and what Iv'e seen is expensive to replace..as sad if just the shocks then that sounds good. Really don't feel like parts changing hoses you know? I will get under and check out. Anything in particular to look for? Thanks you guy's!

Hi...You know I was under there awhile back and I saw the lever bar that runs across back. To be honest I thought the compressor raised shocks and also leveled the rear......hmmmm now you have me thinking...is it just one or the other? then that kinda simplifies things if they are separate..Thanx so much

You're looking for the leak. It could be the bags on the shocks or the plastic lines coming from the compressor.

No, it's not a complicated system. Your compressor operates, just doesn't shut off. That means it can't build of pressure due to a leak. Get a spray bottle with soapy water and spray it around suspect areas while the compressor is running. 90% of the time it is the rubber bags on the shocks rotted out.
