Where does the noise sound like it is coming from? How is the serpentine belt and tensioner? Have you had your mechanic take a look at it to see if they could determine the noise's source and if it is normal? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Question too: Do you mean a noise in the interior steering column when you turn the key (on dash right?) and wheel locks? That or what did you mean by "hit the lock" comment? T

Smile - I'm trying to interpret your comments. I think what you mean is you hear a noise/squeak when wheel is turned to the limit and probably hold it there WHICH YOU SHOULDN'T DO and hearing the metal to metal stop of steering parts at lower control arm squeak. It would - don't do that. You can put a smear of grease on that spot under the car where you'll find it shinny or gun rusted where it stops the action/motion of travel. Yes - I notice those being rubbed on some cars (or did when still working) and greased them just anyway and suggested to owners not to steer like that or risk blowing up power steering components. When you get to the end of travel and notice it just back off a tad. Turning harder doesn't force it to steer more at that point so get used to it, T

I can tell you aren't a "car guy" and still there's no freaking reason to turn the wheel to the end and hold it for a second there -- back off a bit at said it's turning as much as it can. Yes I understand you don't know where the exact end of most turn is until you get there. Do so gently and always back off - anywhere, anytime. What you are doing if it's even touching doesn't help nor get you more turning. Grease will stop it from making that noise as where it rubs while turning the weight of the car also shifts so you hear it. Learn where that is and don't. That if mild is nothing. If you wail on it your power steering is just continuing to add power which is more pressure on pump, hose, rack and pinion and one is going to give out and get expensive on you. Sport - the only time I know of you really ever need the max turn is parking. I can't think of any realistic on the road intersections where you need that for a regular car. If some place that's that bad you routinely drive figure out a plan that doesn't cause this to make that turn. What I understand is happening is NOT the car's fault it's your driving it improperly, T
