Rear Suspension Problems

I replaced the shocks and sway bars on the rear of my wife’s 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L (vehicle has 188,000 miles) last week. Today I had the tires replaced. The car still bounces over bumps. In fact, the ride is worse than when I replaced all the original parts. The springs look fine (aren’t broken), which was confirmed by my buddy who’s a certified mechanic. Everything was torqued to exact specifications. Could it be possible I got some bad shocks from the site where I ordered them or am I missing something else? Thanks

? Tires done now "shocks" now rides worse than before ? YES, it's possible to get parts that are no good but I'm not seeing an alignment in this work is called for IMO and with new tires a great time for that changes the show. Does this just bounce sitting still jouncing the vehicle up and down by hand? If so that's one or more bad "shock absorber/strut" could look fine and not be when just looked at exact torque things not the reason unless falling off the thing right away this soon after doing it, T

There are many things that can effect the quality of the ride. The sway bar is not one of them though. The brand and type of shock/strut, the type and brand of tire. The tire pressure being run and the condition of the rest of the suspension. 188K is a lot of miles. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

An update to my last post. Found out today that the struts I bought were made in China, so I’m assuming they are poor quality. I pushed the backend down by hand and the vehicle conditioned bouncing up and down a few times On its own before settling. I’m going to order some new KYB shocks soon and install those. Thanks for the help.

The "shock" "Absorsbtion" of all but the heaviest monster Land Yachts now ancient is down once, up and stop there. Anything more they are NOT doing their job. Your call on where made and brand KYB you may not like the ride if not more like intended new specifications most can last longer than origs if you choose carefully, Tom

Made in China doesn't mean much. I think you will find most everything made there. The rule of thumb for the jouncing test is that it should stop within 2 bounces if the strut/shock is good.
