Hello, me again! So our 2005 Hyundai Sonata is having steering issues. It has a V6 engine with 2.7, 143k on it. It started a little bit ago, where I would back out of my parking spot at home to go to work and the steering wheel would get very stiff, sometimes to the point of barely being able to turn the wheel. It would do it again as I turned the wheel to start going straight after backing up. It -never- does it when I'm driving though. At first we figured it was because the power steering fluid was too low. We topped it up, and it did get a bit better. It was coming and going, but now it's getting much worse, and almost every time I back up with it, or even turn the whee to start moving forward after being parked, it barely moves at all. I don't know if it's the cold somehow doing it, but I feel like it's something else going on right now. Any and all thoughts would help, if anyone else has had this issue with their older Sonata!

It sounds like the pump has low pressure for some reason. It really needs to be diagnosed by a professional who can run some testing on it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

! PS fluid found low what's the surprise? Where did it go and how long was it run low? It probably wrecked the pump just from being run low now that alone isn't likely to fix it probably hoses and rack and pinion was probably the source but would need to see that, T
