Hi,
Currently feel like I am being sent on a wild goose chase regarding getting the tracking sorted on my BMW X1.
I initially took it to a tyre garage to just get the tracking done and they advised there is no point them doing the tracking as it is due to the stabiliser arms needing replacing. If they had changed the tracking without doing this first it would just fall out of sync again.
I then took it to a mechanic who replaced the drop links and prepped them for the tracking being done at the same time. I took it back to garage 1 after this and they still couldn't sort the tracking as the stabiliser arms hadn't been replaced...

What do i specifically need to sort? the part garage 1 were referring to that needed to be replaced looked like this and you could see it from looking into the tyre well;

As you can probably tell this is quite alien to me so if anyone could explain what exactly needs changing etc that would be hugely appreciated.

Bmw X1 2013 2L diesel automatic. No other issues with the car.

It looks like he is referring to the lower control arm and strut arm bushings.
This is a pretty common failure in BMWs but it requires a press to replace them so this is not a DIY job.
For a little more money you could buy the whole control arm and strut arm and you may be able to replace them yourself but it doesn't sound like you are too experienced in this stuff. If this happens to be 4WD, it would be much harder.

Keeping this car? Do both sides + alignment right away just because even if these don't disturb that - I plead IDK for sure as IDK what layout this is,
