c.v joint wont tighten properly

i posted earlier and was wondering if anyone knew that if you replace a c.v joint but used hammer on end to knock the c.v joint into position and bashed the threads then try to tighten hub nut. it was a nightmare to get on and bigger nightmare to tighten. just managed to insert split pin (barely) as wouldn't go any further, but there is still a small bit to tighten and it wont go. when trying out all i hear is woop woop. is this the reason why the noise is happening? any help would be appreciated, thanks
