1994 chevy blazer S10 6 cylinder parked it power steering worked fine 4 hours later power steering doesn't work, it's very cold tonight 15 below zero wind chill of -46 could it just be cold or something else wrong?

How is the power steering fluid level? GM does have a TSB on cold weather operation. When the fluid is really cold it becomes thick and will cause extremely high pressures in the system. Those high pressures can cause leaks or even damage such as blown hoses or broken pumps.

DS asked about fluid level first!


Hey - if 15 below zero is new to you (many this year) run engine till heater works and temp gauge shows part warmed at least. Sucks for those trying to leave in a hurry you need time as stone cold is when stuff breaks as well as super hot days conversely,
