I have a 1988 Chevy silverado 4x4 5.7 with a 700r4 unknown mileage. The tranny slips going from 2nd-3rd-4th But for some reason i only notice it when i have it in drive, But not when it is in Overdrive, but it might just be my imagination. Tranny fluid is slightly burnt. Is there any reason it would only do it in Drive and not Overdrive? I thought that the 2,3,4 were the same and overdrive was an entirely different gear. A friend of mine gave me a torque convertor thinking it was the problem but i havent put it in yet because im not sure if that could even possibly be the problem. I payed 1200 for the pickup so putting 600 in a rebuild (Moonlighted from my trannsmision shop buddy) i'd realy not like to do.
