When I put my 1989 Chevy Cavalier z24 Automatic into drive it takes a good 3 or 4 minutes before it will actually go into "drive" and go forward. But once it actually goes into drive though it runs fine and I won't have any more problems unlrdd the car sits for more than a few hours. The car has been doing this since we bought it over a year ago. Not much more information that I can really think of that would be helpful in figuring this out. Is it something with the transmission or something else? Do you think it'd be expensive to fix? HELP! TIA for any help.

Is fluid full, color good? I'd try changing fluid and filter in it and bet it will improve greatly with just that, T
