I have a 1995 Chev Lumina Base model with 3.1 eng & 4T60E transmission with about 120,000 miles that makes a heavy clunking noise. When wheels are off or on ground goes into all gears fine. Wheels turn in neutral off ground, apply brake & clunking noise starts, also in park. At high rpm it sounds sometimes like it is trying to jump out of car in neutral. As long as the foot is off brake no noise. Changed fluid & filter, no help. Changed tcc solenoid ohms checked other solenoids, Done pin to pin on wires and all checked ok. Again no help. Also sometimes makes noise when downshifting from 2nd into 1st. Checked all engine & transmission mounts. Checked all cv joints on axles. Disconnected wires to transmission & no change. Checked all fuses & brake switches. Checked for vacumn leaks. Out of ideas. Been told its torque converter But been told they won't do that. Took to trans shop for diagnosis. No trouble codes. Supplied no ideas. Checked torque converter bolts, all tight. Flex plate doesn't appear cracked, only way to tell or sure is to drop tranny. Could it be internal problem, or torque converter or valve body? No I did not remove valve body. Not looking forward to removing or rebuilding. Broke & have to do all work myself. Thanks for any help I can get
