Ok, first of all I am not a transmission guy but I was an auto mechanic for 14 years before becoming an over the road truck driver.

Basic information.

Transmission was rebuilt less then 25000 miles ago. But it was 7 years ago. This is a pleasure vehicle not a work truck and not a daily driver.

I drove the truck last week and shifts were perfect no problems at all at that time. Of course now that I am across the country and won't be home till mid January there is now a lot of problems. Joy.

The problems.

The very first thing you notice upon start up is the tack and speedometer isn't working, then you put the truck in gear then it won't shift out of first gear.

I had my wife go down to get the codes and they are as follows.

P1860 solenoid fault.

P0740 torqe converter clutch.

P0785 3-2 shift solenoid.

P0758 2-3 shift solenoid valve performance.

P0753 1-2 shift solenoid valve performance.


I do not know the order that the codes came out.

The is a fuse that blows that operates the instrument panel (tack and speedometer) that blows as soon as the truck is put in gear.

The electrical part of the ignition switch was replaced 6 months ago. Everything else works as it should to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks for any possible help.

I am leaning towards either the internal wiring harness or solenoid has shorted out. But can't see that effecting the dash.

And yes both problems started at the same time.

Hello,
Sounds like an eletrical problem, you have a short somewhere. I just looked at a wiring diagram for this car(4.3 engine?).
The dash fuse block, fuse number 20, is a 10amp fuse, this fuse works the transmission and the instrument cluster. Check the fuse see if its blown, if it is, unplug the trans put another fuse in see if it blows, if not, problem in trans. The codes that were pulled from the trans are mainly eletrical codes.
