1996 Lumina 3.1 202000 kilometers My Lumina's transmission started slipping on the way home today. By the time I got it home, it would barely move. I checked the fluid, it was a pint low. I added some Lucas transmission fix, but as of now, it won't even drop into any gear, not even reverse. I will wait until it's cold, but I don't have much hope. It was acting a little funny lately, it felt while decelerating like the brakes were coming on intermittently, but was fine while under acceleration. Let me know if you think there are any quick fixes. I had changed the fluid and filter about 6000 kilometers ago, and the fluid isn't brown or burnt now, it looks and smells fine.

That doesn't sound to good..... About the only things you can check, you have and that would be the fluid level.... Just from your description it sounds internal.......... If you are doing this yourself you might drop the pan on the outside change the filter fell off but barring that the trans will more than likely need to come out...........
