I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, I just replaced the transmission after all gears were lost. I have the new one in and it moves! Once it shifts into 4th gear in overdrive at around 50-55mph it feels like it is slipping maybe. I was told to put in some Lucas no slip additive. I did so and could definitely feel a better shifting in the gears but still experienced the same problem after shifting into 4th gear. It appears to rev up a few hundred rpms when it does this and continues to what I would call hesitating unless I either slowed down or speed up past 60. Once at 60+ the speedometer goes haywire and just does its own thing. Once the speed is back below 55mph the speedometer will go back to normal most of the time. Running at what I would have to guess since speedometer isn't working would be around 70+ mph it does something similar and jerks pretty hard intermittently. I have been just putting it into 3rd gear, out of overdrive and seems to drive fine as long as I don't stay in the 50-55mph range. I am looking for the next direction to take from here. I am wanting to think that it may be something in the circuit board behind the speedometer sending wrong information to the tranny/engine after it shifts into 4th. Any information would be of great assistance and appreciation. Thanks ahead of time.

Is this a new or used trans? Did you flush out the oil coolers prior to putting this one in? Are there any trouble codes?

It is a complete re-manufactured transmission. A certified mechanic took the old one out and put the reman in. I dont know if he flushed the oil coolers or not. Havent had the chance to see if it is pulling any codes or not. The darn radiator decided it needed to crack so have to change that out before I can get it anywhere.
