1998 Dodge Caravan Transmission Sign In

I have a 98 Caravan, 2.4 liter. The transmission will not change into 3rd gear until the Temperature gets above midway. Any suggestions on this? Is there a sensor of some kind that might need replacing? It has 252,000 miles and has been flushed.

Some of the seals inside it are getting still after 15 years and a lot of miles. This wasn't controlled heavily by electronics like the A604 in the 3.3 and 3.8 models. You need a new trans. Now as much as I hate people to think that additives will solve a problem, I've seen a few of these hold on for a short bit longer with an additive like Lucas Oil or Transmedic. Please realize than this is on its last legs and any crap you pour in there that seems to help is only a very temporary bandaid that will fail at any time. Don't let the total fluid level get overfilled if adding anything like this to it. Plan on needing a new trans soon.
