i just recently bought my avenger from a dealer on july 30th.(it has abut 126,000 mi. automatic) since i bought the car whenever i come to a stop the car slipped foward a little then stopped. i figured it was the breaks. but today i was driving to work and when i was driving about 35mph my car was at the 4rpm mark. when i got on the highway i was only able to get it to about 55mph and the rpms were b/t 5 and 6. the car didnt seem to shift gears on its own and i had to take my foot off the gas to get the rpms down and then accellerated again. i had to drive about 25-30 miles. weird thing is when i left work my car was acting fine except when breaking it felt a little off. but my car had a 30 day warrantee on it which expired just a few days ago. but should i have some sort of protection if it is the tranny. ive driven about 1000 miles. is it possible to kill a transmission in that amount of time or is it somthing that would have had progressed over time and i was sold a "lemon". i live in rhode island and read the law definition and i was unclear. if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.. thanks, darcie

This sounds like you need a tranny job. Contact seller at once. RI may not have as good of a lemon law as Massachusetts and even here at 30 days with the miles the seller would be off the hook. Yes a trans can croak at any # of miles, T
