I have a 2001 Hyundai Tiberon that is having trouble getting into 1st gear as long as the car is in motion. I have to come to an absolutely complete stop to put it into 1st gear. No rolling, nothing. Very frustrating in parking lots and stop lights. I have a friend that thinks it is the clutch cable that has gone bad, but I wanted to get some other opinions. I'm not great at troubleshooting, however I can do the work if I know what it is. Any thoughts? Thank you for your input! DJ Greg

If all the other gears are shifting good, it sounds like you may have a worn synchro. You can try to double clutch it & at the same time double bump the shifter going into 1st, sometimes that will slow it down enough to go into gear........... If it is a synchro, the trans would need to be disassembled to repair it...
