2000 chevy silverado1500 5.3 L 250,000 miles My transmission recently went out so I bought a rebuilt one and put it in myself. I was driving it and noticed when shifting into 3rd if im above 1500 rpms it revs high and wont shift until i let off the gas. It also shifts hard into the other gears I seen a service engine soon light so i hooked up a computer and it gave me the error code p0751 which means 1-2 shift solenoid stuck off. I assume i need to replace the solenoids because of the code but dont want to waste money. Should i replace them? I also asked the man that rebuilt it if the solenoids were new he said no but he did test them for fire and they did have it.

It could be the solenoid or any related wiring or even mechanical issues. it really needs to be troubleshooted. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Does this rebuilt transmission have a warranty? If you crack the tranny open to replace solenoids, you may void the warranty. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Did you or your mechanic determine it needed another transmission? If it is a solenoid or other problem inside the transmission causing the issue, he should fix it for free. If he didn't diagnose it in the beginning, he'll probably charge you for diagnostic time to figure out the problem. Another thing to consider is that he may have to charge you for labor to remove and install the transmission, if it determined it needs to come apart, unless you decide you want to do it yourself again. Depends on what is stated in the warranty. If he was the one in the beginning to diagnose it, to remove the old transmission, and install the new transmission, he would be liable for the entire repair for however long the warranty applies. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I decided i needed a new trans i lost reverse, had a horrible noise and it struggled to drive 50 mph. I found a rebuilt trans on craigslist and bought it then put it in myself. Got a warranty to fix anything wrong with it. I hope i can fix it without dropping the trans again or paying him too. Was wanting confirmation that code meant it was the solenoids, the cheaper fix. Thank you for the help

The code means there is an issue with the solenoid circuit, not necessarily the solenoid itself. It needs to be troubleshooted as indicated earlier. Hope that it's not and intermittent issue.
