I have a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, recently it started riding the rpms high before it would shift, I would sometimes have to let off the gas to get it to shift.
A few days ago, pulling out of the driveway, i noticed that the rpms were high, with hardly any response.
It was parked until today.
Currently, it will go (poorly) in 1 (any) gear until I stop. Upon stopping, the engine revs with no movement.
If I then turn the car off and back on, I can go in 1 (any) gear until I stop.
The fact that the car will briefly go after turning it off and on again, really confused me.
Is it the whole transmission, the clutch, the solenoid to engage the clutch???
PLEASE HELP!!

? I'm confused too. Is this an automatic or standard shift? Do RPMs go up on their own or your request and no action?

It is an automatic,
the rpms go up with normal response to the petal, but the car is not moving at all, feels like neutral.

OK: If fluid is full and clean looking - no burnt smell it might be a repair instead of overhaul. Slipping like described isn't good and the trans would quickly burn the fluid - usually and need a redo. If low on fluid not good for it either so find out where it leaks fast and fix that and hope trans survived it,

The fluid was full, but not very clean, so there doesnt appear to be a leak.
I really hope the trans survived it,Unsure

nas365; Have you noticed any issues with the speedometer? Sounds like an internal problem, though.

Hey, did you ever find out what was wrong? I have the same issue. I think it's a solenoid as that is where my research is leading me.. but not sure. Help?
