Hello, i have noticed a sudden lose of power on my car, first gear feels like third, and third feels like fifth, etc, no check engine lights, when i got out of the car i smelled a burning, i believe it might be clutch related, but one thing that has me worried is that in REVERSE it works normally, FULL power, i am very worried if it is transmission, thanks for your time Any help will be greatly appreciated it is a 2004 hyundai accent gls 1.6 manual 230000km

What does the burning smell like. Are the engine rpms shooting up when your accelerating? Clutch disc slipping? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The smell is hard to describe, like a mix of plastic and paper, it takes longer to rev, just like if i was in third, but in first, in reverse however it revs normally

If you put the vehicle in neutral with the parking brake off, can you push the vehicle? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

So the engine revs up fine in neutral, but in gear the engine has no power? You might need your mechanic to take a look at it, to see what is burning. Have you had any recent work done? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Hey, it was just the clutch after all, it is getting replaced, i am guessing it didnt slip in reverse because it was worn out mostly in one direction, i hope to take a look at the old clutch for more details
