2004 civic auto rumble

It's a 4 door with a 1.7 98k on the od. & an automatic the consaul shift has 3 positions for drive , when going about 35-40 with foot off the gas you get this rumble , similar to a manual when you're in too high a gear , does not do it on acceleration , fluid level is good but doesn't have that fresh scent , does my 300 dollar honda have a bad tranny on it's way out ? Have put a bunch of miles on it since putting it on the road and has run just fine .

Hello,
When you feel this rumble at 35 to 40 with foot off the gas, while rolling put the car in neutral and see if you still feel the problem?

I try to duplicate the driving conditions and it doesn't do it , I've also drawn out 2 quarts of tranny fluid ( with an old shop vac ) and replaced with new , I know it's not the pro way to do it but what was in there was nasty , now my son says there's another different noise from one of the front wheels , Thanks for the help , I'll get to it some day

No, no no
Honda requires special "Honda" fluid and anything else will cause damage.
From the service manual
A/T Fluid
Type .................... Use Honda ATF-Z1
Honda Service News Notice:
If you're replacing transmission fluid in a CVT-equipped vehicle, or just topping it off, make sure you're using the new CVT fluid (P/N 08200-9006). From here on, DON'T put ATF-Z1 in a CVT. If you're topping off a CVT that's already got ATF-Z1, there's no need for concern; this fluid is compatible with ATF-Z1. All CVT-equipped Hondas starting with the 2006 models and onward will be factory-filled with the new CVT fluid.

If the car has been run at all, you are going to have to do more than that to get it all out. Personally, I wouldn't leave it in there even one day.
