2006 Ford F150 5.4Litre 90k miles automatic with a limited slip rear end. Under mild acceleration, "sometimes" there is a muted clunk at about 40-50mph. If I accelerate harder it does not happen. I cannot get it to happen at lower speeds. I cannot tell if its the transmission or rear end. Any suggestions on how I can further diagnose the problem? I do have "backyard" mechanic skills and a shop available. thanks all for your help. Don

Without being able to hear the noise or drive the vehicle, can't really give you any suggestions. Maybe you should swing into a transmission shop and have them check it out. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
