My Impala has only 25000 miles and is like new. Fluid level is correct, smells new, good color. After engine is warm, i can hear a buzz on gentle upshifts. Also, sometimes a slight delay and a clunk on downshifts almost like it is sticking in gear a bit. No real problems with shifting, just concerned because I know it shouldn't do this. Considering an additive such as Lucas Fix, but no slipping or leaking which is their main applications. This is a rebuilt salvage car, so no warranty, but the front drive train was not involved in the accident.

? Isn't this under warranty? The base 3/36 is for bumper to bumper. There should be longer well hidden for major drivetrain components and more - check on that. If you messed with it under warranty (might have a deductible) it would void it if they knew. Double check on that. I don't think you need be the original owner either? T

You missed the statement in my post that the car is a rebuilt salvage which voids all warranty work. Recalls only...

OOOPPPPS! My fault - sorry. While here - I doubt Lucas or additives are going to help and might do harm? Salvage? If put together properly it hopefully will behave and be all aspects of what it was, a 2013 Impala so it's got the proper parts for the model year that might need service. IDK - Seems a lot of cars get that tag and were NOT all that damaged sometimes and very well could be a good car, T

Yes, I have been driving rebuilt salvage cars for many years. My mistake on this one was that I bought it from an individual, so no warranty. Had bought all the others from a dealer with a warranty. I have never gotten in trouble before this. I am hoping this is minor, but transmissions are a little scary... I saw the car before it was rebuilt and the front drivetrain was not involved.

Do you know if the trans is a 4 speed or 6 speed auto?

It is the 6 speed with manual "paddles" on the column. It works perfectly cold, but starts the buzz or hum on gentle upshifts after it is completely warmed up.

No, as I said, it only does it on a gentle upshift, like accelerating very slowly the hum comes just before an upshift which feels like it may be a bit delayed. If I am accelerating quickly I don't hear it. I assume it is because the pressures are higher when the engine is revving more. It is not present when the engine is cold and it never does it any other time other than upshifting at a slow pace

Hello, Could be a solenoid or clutch regulating valve buzzing, what you may want to start with first is having a fast learn done, this is done with a scan tool and takes about 10 minutes, but you have to make sure no codes are present(even if your check engine light is not on)for the function to work.

It's too early to tell, but I put a can of Seafoam Trans Tune in today, and with only 1 trip so far it didn't do it which would fit with helping a sticky solenoid. My counterman (whom I trust from being right on other projects) assured me it was a detergent-type additive that wouldn't do any harm to try. Will post an update after a week or two trial...
