700r4 trans prob Sign In

i have a 1994 chevy truck 2500 5.7l 4wd. my trans shifts fine up until it either reaches a certain temp or it does alot of down shiftin. town drivin. after the prob starts, it seems like its stuck in 3rd. i can manually shift to 1st and take off then shift to 3rd and its fine. still no second and overdrive either. although all gears work great at first startup. it will takeoff in drive and overdrive but is sluggish. again all of this happens after tranny warms up. have done filter changes on a regular basis and fluid has never had a burnt smell. any advice would help thankx

This probably won't help a lot but I think the term your looking for is "kickdown". If you don't get any other advice, try directing internet searches for that.
I don't know a lot, but I think the transmission temperature sensor would be a cheap place to start. That would explain the only when warm part.
Other than that I'm thinking rebuild.
It's possible that the output shaft speed sensor (near the back of the trans) has alot of metallic debris on it (it is a magnet). As the trans is used more collect on it causing problems. When it sits for awhile, some of it falls off. It's easy enough pull out (usually a single bolt) and clean it.
