97 Voyager stuck in low

1997 Plymouth Voyager shift lever stuck in Low.
Engine was running and I was moving the vehicle forward. I put the transmission in Low, and now the shift lever will not move at all.

Check the linkage to the trans and make sure its not binding, detach it and see if the shifter on the trans will move from one gear to another...if o.k. then the problem is in one of the three, (locking key switch), (the shifter itself) or the (child safety device) that is linked to the brake to the shifter, any which case you will need a haynes manual in aiding you.
