I took my car into a well known mechanic here. They have worked on my car in the past. After having my car for well over a month and not hearing from them. I recieved a call last Friday that the differential in the transmission was blown. They can't find any used parts for it and unless I am willing to pay 3500 dollars for it to be repaired I need to figure out what to do. I really don't have the means to get it fixed and at the sametime I can't imagine being able to sell it for very much. I just don't know what my options are. Is there any information anyone can give me on what would be the best thing to do?? I appreciate it.

khartpayne; You may want to search wrecking yards for a low mileage used assembly. Check yellow pages for wrecking yards in your area. Is this a manual or automatic transmission? Just curious, but you said 'well known mechanic'. Is this a person, or a chain store? Loren SW Washington
