I have a 1999 Chevy cavalier 2.2 liter with 228,000 miles the transmission is a remanufactured one has 78,000 miles on it. I was going at 60 one day came to a stop sign it started struggling to run and then stalled. You can start it in park or neutral but if you try to put it in drive or reverse the car jerks and shuts off. I thought maybe it was a solenoid for the torque convertor but I was told this transmission supposedly doesn't have one it is a 3 speed which I was told is the T3. Do you have any ideas on the possible problem?

basics - check fluid quantity, color - And always post CODES. no light does NOT mean no code. Are you sure about not having TCC ? Might want to get wheels off ground and dbl check.

Fluid is good, color is good, it doesn't smell burnt, it was flushed about 15000 miles prior to that I jacked it up off the ground and tried it same thing happened

As for the tcc the place that replaced the transmission said it does have a tcc but earl brothers transmissions and the service manager at my local GM dealer said he doesn't think so because they weren't showing that part available on the 3 speed transmission

3T40-E (MD9) transmission has a torque converter clutch and torque converter clutch lock up solenoid. Don't know what the dealer or Earl's are smoking. P/N 8689901 Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
