I have a Plymouth Voyager 1999 with 180 k that runs great ..has been well maintained w 2.4 ltr and 3spd auto w/lockup..I am having issues with trans slipping on takeoff but shifts great otherwise even into lockup. This happens on initial start and also when warmed up...If I gingerly apply gas on takeoff it is okay but this is not always prudent..depending on situation....it does not skip a bit when accelerating after slippage stops and shifts smoothly as well even under load..I cannot accelerate from dead stop but otherwise trans is great...I really need this vehicle due to fact mt PT Cruiser is an overheating dog...any help would be extremely helpful and appreciated

1999 first thing check fluid level and condition use correct fluid if needed. second SCAN for codes even if CEL is off.. think this is a 31TH trans, ATF +3,

codes NEVER say parts are bad. part stores say code = part, ever wonder why? get codes and post ALL retrieved codes. Skill level, are you comfortable adjusting TV cable and bands in a HAIL MARY type fix? fluid was changed is NOT a reason not to check it.

as an ex B-52 mechanic and machinist I would not be averse to trying some ideas that do not result in trans replacement..I took it to a trans shop but without doing anything but driving it he said..Trans..not reputable shop..so I am skeptical of his ..."diagnosis"thank you

thanks - B52 - got my memory going - USAF retired crew chief F15s - check fluid engine/trans at operating temp, manually shift thru gears one by one then check dip stick.

Throttle Pressure Linkage-
Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. -
Loosen the adjustment swivel lock screw. -
To ensure proper adjustment, the swivel must be free to slide along the flat end of the throttle rod. Disassemble, clean and lubricate as required. -
Hold the transaxle throttle control lever firmly toward the engine, against its internal stop. Tighten the swivel lock screw to 100 inch lbs. (11 Nm). -
The adjustment is finished and linkage backlash was automatically removed by the preload spring. -
Road test the vehicle and check the shift points.

Hello, Common issue with these transmissions that i see are the teeth on the foward clutchs wear out, sometimes i see out of the 4 clutches in the pack only 2 have teeth on them, if reverse is ok, i would say you have an issue with the foward clutch pack. Gary
