Flywheel not turning Sign In

I just replaced the engine on my 2004 Toyota Highlander (4 cyl). When I put the flywheel into the bell housing there was a groove where it was supposed to match up. I marked the groove on the bell housing with the groove on the flywheel. Now that I'm done and trying to start the car I get the starter turning over but it's unable to budge the flywheel. Is there anything I can do without taking the whole thing apart again?

Re: Flywheel not turning Sign In

The fllywheel is bolted directly to the back of the crankshaft flange. You may want to put a breaker bar with the correct size socket on the crank pulley and try to rotate the engine by hand. If it is turning ok investigate the starter motor to make sure it is engaging the flywheel teeth. Post back if you still have problems and include the engine size and tell us if this is an automatic or manual trans.
