I have a 96 Ford Explorer manual transmission (4.0 6 cyl). Lately it's been hard to shift into gear, especially 1st and 2cd and after driving for a while. Sometimes when stopped, if I have it in gear and foot on the clutch, the car will still move forward. When I stop and try to put it in reverse, it will sometimes grind real loud. Time for a new tranny?

Sounds like you have air in the clutch hydraulic system. I would check the fluid level, and if it is low, or you have been adding fluid look for a leaking master cylinder, or clutch slave cylinder. If it is not low then I would check the bushings that the clutch pedal pivots on. hope this helps.
