I have a 1993 3ltr Mazda Sentia (929) - it only runs in 1st and/or 2nd gear under load - it wont change gear beyond 2nd - it just revs high - going down hill I can put it in D (drive) and the revs come down and it will go thru all gears - the minute I take on a hill - it will just rev up and is in no gear - I have to override and pull it back to 1st where it will drive at 3000rpm - but nothing above 80kph - do I need a new gearbox - or is it a computer problem?

I'm no expert, but it seriously sounds like your transmission's about wore out. Considering the age and mileage it probably has I hope you're prepared for a costly repair. When your tranny needs to be repaired or replaced it's not cheap. Sorry for the bad news. Go to your local Aamco, they give free estimates. Unfortunately there's really no way around automatic trans problems...(repair: meaning rebuild, or replace).
