No reverse or 3rd gear

I have a 1981 4.2l awd amc eagle with the torqueflite 998 3speed automatic I believe. There is no reverse or 3rd gear and I was wondering what the problem could be? It does leak a little fluid.

Hello,
Your direct clutch or 3rd clutch is no good, that drum is located right behind the pump inside the trans. Gary
