Possible burnt out clutch???

Hey guys, So I bought a used Honda CR Z back in December with about 60K miles on it. About a week after driving it I noticed that it was sometimes hard to go into 1st gear unless I slightly released the clutch a little and ocassionally(maybe once a week or two) when I would go to put it in 4th it wouldn't go into gear and it'd make a grinding noise. The problem never got any worse, but the other day on the freeway my RPM's started jumping when I would try to accelerate and even though I was in 6th gear the shift indicator light would tell me to upshift. I pulled off and popped the hood and smelt that dreaded burning smell. By the time I got home the car would barely move at all. Luckily I got it home, but now the car won't accelerate at all, the RPM's just jump. Would this mean my clutch is burnt out? Like I said, the not going into gear crap happened so rarely that I didn't think it would give out so soon. I have only put 5K miles on it since I got it if that helps. Is there anything I could look at or try before shelling out on a new clutch kit? Maybe it is something completely different? I am not really sure here guys. I am open to any recommendations. Thanks in advance! You guys rock!!

Yes, from your description it sounds like the classic clutch disc failure. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
