Possible transmission breakdown Sign In

Good Morning everyone,

When I was driving last night my Toyota 4Runner 1994 V6 in an uphill revs began to fall down. I could drive the car in neutral (with an strange sound) downhill to the next gas station but now when I press the accelerator in D the engine cranks but no transmission to the wheels. I tried the different driving modes and the L4 in the 4WD is the only thing working right now. Also I checked the transmission fluid and the deposit was totally empty. I do not understand the automatic transmission so I would like to know if there is any chance that the transmission is still alive or if this situation is a total transmission breakdown. Thank you for your help.

If there is nothing on the dipstick, shouldn't you fill the transmission back up the proper level and see how it performs? You should also be looking for leaks.
