Wow first of all, thank you to womever is out there willing to help. This is really awesome! So my Toyota Starlet - '97 - 1.3L - 160,000km recently started having problems with the clutch and gearbox. It all started with me being stuck in gear, even when i pushed in the clutch. I had to pull really hard to get it out. Later I discovered that re-pushing in the clutch loosened it, so often now I press the clutch a few times before going to first gear from a standstill which makes it work like its supposed to. The clutch is very spongy... This is most noticeable when I put it in reverse, even with the clutch all the way down it still has traction and I still go backwards even when I'm supposed to be standing still. Especially in the reverse it usually stalls my engine when I also press the brake. Long story short I want to know what is wrong... I'm thinking a spring somewhere near the clutch disc has sprung or dislodged... I've learned to drive with it but I fear my clutch discs are gonna go much faster like this and that I wont pass the approval process. Does anybody know what it is? What can I do? How much will it cost me? I have already checked the clutch fluid level which is sufficient.

This is typical of malfunction of the hydraulic clutch - air in system, bad master cylinder or slave cylinder OR a chance where slave is pushing is broken in some way but that wouldn't respond to multiple pushes on pedal like a bad hydraulic part can, T
