Transmission/Tranfercase Sign In

1996
Chevy Pickup
4x4 K1500
5.7 liter engine
105K miles

OK, hoping to get some help here. Last 6 month I've replaced the wheel bearing, the CV shaft. I still heard the grinding noise and I was told it may be the bearing to the transmission. This past weekend I drove it, and after I stopped at a stop light, I accelerated and heard a loud pop and the truck would not accelerate. I nursed it into a parking lot. Just for grins I put engaged the 4 wheel drive and the truck was in gear again. After stopping for a few hours at a friends house I drove away with no problem with 4 wheel drive still engaged. About 2 miles down the road I heard another pop and more grinding and the truck would not go into gear. Smoke was coming from what I though was the transfer case. The truck now will not go into gear.

Any Ideas or help would be appreciated. I am hoping it just the transfer case and not the transmission??

Thanks,
--Augie

Re: Transmission/Tranfercase Sign In

Not a total tranny head but I've seen flawed front pump problems do this and an overhaul is in order. I can't be sure from here but expect thatUnsure
