I hope you can help--took daughter's 2000 Mercury Sable (100,000miles; I bought car as grad present 2 months ago, from a Ford dealership, one owner previously, excellent condition) to repair shop for problem w/timing (engine missing when at stop sign). Repair guy said prob might be the spark plugs, repair estimate of $100 or so. He called few hours later and said he noticed a leak, then all the trans fluid ran out and would require $1500-$2000 to repair. There wasn't a leak prior to this, nothing in driveway, no other problems w/the car. I'm at a loss about what to do, don't have the money for repair, car can't be driven apparently. Any ideas? Am I being ripped off? Sure feels like it! Thanks.
