Transmission leaking

1997 GMC Sonoma, 2WD 4.3, 6 cylinder When the engine is running and the vehicle is in park there is transmission fluid coming out of the bottom of the transmission. Looking underneath the truck at the rear of the transmission there is what appears to be a steel ball. The fluid is coming from around it. What needs to be done to fix the problem? With the engine off there does not appear to be a leak. Thanks, Ralph Willey rwilley@bellsouth.net

This is a pressurized leak so it sounds like a yoke seal to me You will have to remove the drive shaft and replace the seal at the rear of the transmission grab a Hanes manual this will tell you how to do this procedure and a lot more. Cheers
